International Week was FUN, FUN, FUN!

Dear Parents and Students,

What a screaming fun week we had!  We have been all over the world!  To 7 countries, to be exact!  They were Brazil, India, Australia, Egypt, Madagascar, Italy and Canada.  We also got visitors in our own country, Austria.  We had an unforgettably great time!

I have to make use of this opportunity and say:  THE THIRD GRADERS WERE AMAZING!!!  They presented Austrian indescribably well.

We also met with our Reading Buddies, the Pre-K students, and taught them how to make an Austrian (German) hat.  We had a lot of fun with them.

In Computer class the third graders made slideshows on Austria.  And like always, they did a fine job with their computer skills.

Next week Monday, February 27th, is an off day for students.  There is no school for students!  And Tuesday, February 28th, is a national holiday.  It is Peace Day.  Students, you have a long weekend, so enjoy the time with your family.  Take a nice rest after our busy, but successful week!

Spirit Week is coming up.  This is another exciting week and will take place from Monday, March 12th to Friday, March 16th.  Each day we will dress up according to a specific theme and we will have a prize each day for the best dressed student in our class! The themes are as follow:
Monday, March 12th:  Twins Day
Tuesday, March 13th:  Zombie Day
Wednesday, March 14th:  Rainbow Day
Thursday, March 15th:  Favorite Character/Celebrity Day
Friday, March 16th:  Green Day (for St. Patrick’s Day)

Students, our annual Music Scavenger Hunt will take place on March 21st.  We will compete against the fourth graders.  I know we can win!!!  So start reviewing those Music notes and get ready so we can show the fourth graders who we are!

Curriculum Planning for Week 5:
Math:  We will finish Chapter 14 and review it in Week 5.  We will also do an overall review of Unit 5.
Science:  We started with Chapter 15 in Week 4.  We will finish it in Week 5.  I know the pace is fast, therefore you should review regularly.
English:  We will finish Unit 8 in Week 5.  Students, remember that even though we don’t write official tests on English this semester, you do get scores for each assignment.  Always try your best!
Reading:  We will finish activities based on our third selection in Theme 4, Two Days in May.

Test Dates:
Math Test:  Monday, March 5th (Chapter 14)
Science Test:  Wednesday, March 7th (Chapters 11 & 12)

Homework 2/24:
Science:  work on your Science Fair project

Our student of the week is Ashley Han.  She gets the award this week for her great enthusiasm during International Week.  She worked very hard and did an excellent job!  Congratulations, Ashley!  You are a star!

Have a lovely long weekend!
Take care!
