Dear Parents and Students,
Another productive and fun week has gone by. We had a memorable Valentine’s Day and it felt good to share and to give! We surprised our Reading buddies, the Pre-K students. We also made something special for our families and blog followers. We have talented third graders in HIS! Have a look at our Valentine Cinquain poems:
I would like to remind both parents and students about the importance of frequently visiting the blog for any updates and information.
This coming week is International Week! We will be presenting our presentations on Wednesday, February 22nd, and Thursday, February 23rd. We will also be “traveling around the world” on those days and visiting all the other classes and their countries. I am very excited about International Week! The third graders are working hard on their presentations. We are also going to treat teachers and visitors with a traditional Austrian treat. Please keep your fingers crossed for successful apfelstrudel baking!
Students, please study hard for your tests on Monday, February 20th (Social Studies) and Tuesday, February 21st (Math).
Another reminder: There will be no school on Monday and Tuesday, February 27th and 28th, for all students. Enjoy a nice long weekend with your family and friends.
Curriculum Planning Week 4:
Math: We will start with Chapter 14 in Week 4. Chapter 14 is about Metric Measurement. A test on Chapter 14 is scheduled for March 2nd.
English: We will still be busy with Unit 8 and we will look more at characters and setting. We will also learn more about sentence fluency and good endings.
Science: We will finish Chapter 11 (Matter Changes) in Week 4 and we will also review it.
Reading: We read our third selection in Theme 4, Two Days in May. We will work on activities based on this story in Week 4.
Homework 2/17:
Social Studies: Study hard for the test on Monday! (Chapters 7 & 8)
Science: Science Fair Project Worksheet 2 is due on Monday.
Extra: look for clothes to go with our Austrian presentation; Practice your speech with GESTURES
Our Student of the Week is Emily Su. She is a great example of a student working hard and performing well in academic areas and extra curricular activities. Congratulations, Emily! You are a star!
Have a warm and peaceful weekend. Stay healthy!
