HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!

Dear Parents and Students,

Together with the warmer weather we had a lot of fun this week during Chinese Week.  We made lanterns, cooked, drew dragons, wore red and ate with chopsticks!  Fun, fun, fun!!!

This week was Michelle Lin’s birthday.  We enjoyed the day with her and we got treated with very delicious pizza and candy!  Happy birthday, Michelle!  And thank you for all the treats!

The school is closed during Chinese New Year and will start again on January 30th.  Second semester clubs will start on February 6th.

Curriculum Planning for Week 1 of the second semester:
Math:  We will start with Chapter 12, Time and Temperature.  It is the first chapter of Unit 5, Measurement.
English:  We will focus more on writing skills from the second semester and will start with the second part in our English Textbook, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Viewing.  We are going to first look at Unit 7, Writing a Personal Narrative.
Reading:  We are going to start with our second Reading Book, Horizons, and will read and do activities on stories from Theme 4, Animal Habitats.
Social Studies:  We will start with the third unit, Settling the Land.  The first chapter in the unit is Chapter 7, Settling the North East.

Our Student of the Week is Jasper Hsu.  His reading skills have improved a lot and he is performing very well in Reading class.  Congratulations, Jasper!  You are a star!

Happy Chinese New Year to all of you!  Enjoy the time with family and friends!  Take care and stay healthy!
