Dear Parents and Students,
First of all I want to talk about health, because health and
safety come first! Students, I want to
make sure that we all stay strong and healthy.
Bring an extra jacket and even a scarf to school. Some days can be quite windy and chilly. Make sure you wash your hands regularly,
especially before meals. Also, keep your
sanitary wipes at school stocked up all the time – we use them to wipe our
tables from time to time.
Happy birthday to Annie Chen. It was her birthday on January 11th. She treated us with very delicious cake. Thank you very much, Annie! We wish you good health, endless happiness
and excellent scores!
Next week, January 16th
– 20th, we have our Chinese
Week at School. Lots of fun things
will be happening at school, for example cooking and a
dragon-drawing-competition. On Wednesday, January 18th, we
will have our “Red Day”. Students, please wear red on this day! On Friday,
January 20th, we have “Chopstick
Day”. We will all be eating with
chopsticks! I can’t wait! Students, feel free to bring your own
chopsticks from home. This way we
can also help saving the Earth, by not using the disposable chopsticks!
The Secondary Department’s Student Council (HIS SRC) is
launching a great charity project! They
hope to start a library on Olango Island , in the Philippines . They need our help! If you have any English books that you don’t
need or read anymore, please bring it to school. We will have a donation box in our class for
the books. Let’s try and do something
nice for under privileged students. We only have time until January 20th to donate books.
Next week we will finish up all chapters in all
subjects. We are nearly finished with
all the workbooks of the first semester, too.
We will review and get tested. We
will also have some fun with Chinese Week activities.
Test dates:
Tuesday, January 17th: English Test (Unit 6)
Wednesday, January 18th: Music Test
Thursday, January 19th: Science Test (Chapters 9 and 10)
Friday, January 20th: Math Test (Chapters 10 and 11)
Our Student of the Week is Michelle Lin. Last week our Student of the Week Award went
to the student who read the most minutes during the Read-a-Thon. Michelle was absent last Friday and I didn’t
have her reading log. So on Monday she
brought it and we saw the spectacular number!
She read a total of 2309 minutes!
Congratulations, Michelle! What a
star you are!!!
Next Friday, January 20th, is the last day of the
first semester. School starts on January
30th, after Chinese New Year.
I also want to wish you all a happy Chinese New Year! Enjoy the time with family and friends.
Have a wonderful, warm weekend!
