Thanksgiving 2011

Dear Parents and Students,

Happy Thanksgiving!  And what a happy Thanksgiving Day we had at school on Thursday.  Thank you for joining us and thank you for contributing to the lunch.  Everything was DIVINE!  A team like you is surely something I am thankful for.

Here are some pictures taken at our lunch:

Literacy Week is coming up and it promises to be a lot of fun.  It is scheduled for the week of December 5th – 9th.  We will end that week with our annual Spelling Bee (December 9th).  All students got their spelling word lists on Friday and can start practicing the words.  They have to do this independently – we will not spend a lot of time on it in class.  Students, the more effort you put in the bigger your success will be. J  I will not schedule any spelling tests in the following two weeks, so students can put their time and energy into these lists for the Spelling Bee.

Every Wednesday afternoon, for about 20 minutes we join the Pre-K class for reading.  We are their Reading Buddies and we are enjoying it a lot!  I have to report to say how proud I am of the third graders.  They are doing so well and I can already see some potential teachers for the future.

Our Christmas Evening is taken place on December 15th, at 6.30pm.  Please make a note in your diaries and come sing along that evening.  It is going to be memorable!

Students, have a look at the website links on our blog (on the right hand side).  I added new links.  These links will take you to fun multiplication games to play.  Remember, practice makes perfect!  And these games are fun ways to practice!

Curriculum Planning for Week 14:
Math: We will continue and finish Chapter 8.
Science:  The test on Chapters 4 and 5 will be on Wednesday, November 30th.  We will also move on to Unit D, Chapter 8, in week 14.  Chapter 8 is all about  patterns in Earth’s atmosphere.
