Fun Day, Thanksgiving, Science Presentation and more

Dear Parents and Students,

I believe everyone had a relaxing Midterm Break.  I am very happy to have all the students back in the third grade class safe and sound!

On Wednesday we had a very memorable and super exciting Fun Day.  The third graders dressed according to their team’s theme and everyone enjoyed the fun spirit and the games presented by our Sixth Graders.  Thank you Students, for being enthusiastic and for participating with lots of energy, even though it was quite hot out there!

Have a look at some pictures:

On November 8th and 9th we have our Parent/Teacher Conferences.  Thank you for sending back the forms and making your appointments.

Coming Thursday, November 10th, is our Science Presentation Day.  Parents, please feel welcome to come join us at 9.30am, in the third grade classroom.  I know you all have busy schedules so the children and I especially appreciate your attendance if you can be here to see the results of their efforts.

Curriculum Planning for Week 11:
Math:  We started with Chapter 6 this week.  It is about graphs and analyzing data.  We will continue and finish Chapter 6 in Week 11.
Science:  We will start with Unit B this coming week.  We will do Chapter 4, which is about the survival of living things.
Social Studies:  We finished Unit 2, more specifically Chapter 6, this week.  It was very interesting to learn about the Native Americans.  We will write a test on Unit 2 on November 14.
English:  We started with Unit 4, Adjectives.  We will continue with adjectives in Week 11, finish and review it.
Reading:  We are going to read and discuss our last story in Theme 2, named Miss Rumphius.  We are not going to do any activities on it, but we are going to read, discuss and do activities on Trickster Tales.  This will help us to learn about a specific genre.

Student of the Week is Jasper Chiu Hsu!  Jasper is improving a lot!  He is working very hard to improve his English abilities and he got 100% in his spelling test!  Congratulations, Jasper!!!  You are a star!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone and work on those Science presentations!  J
